GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This course is aimed at students who are beginners and want to feel
more confident when speaking. The main focus is on oral communication and interaction in real-life
situations. Through practical activities, students expand their vocabulary, improve comprehension,
and learn to express themselves more fluently on everyday topics. Basic grammar is also reinforced
to support clearer communication.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
Listening and reading comprehension
• Understand the main idea of short conversations and texts on familiar topics.
Speaking and interaction
• Take part in simple conversations about daily life, studies, work, and free time.
• Describe experiences, plans, and everyday situations.
• Ask questions, express simple opinions, and react in basic dialogues.
• Communicate with greater fluency, despite pauses and level-appropriate mistakes.
Writing
• Write short and simple texts such as messages, informal emails, or brief descriptions.
MAIN CONTENT
Pronunciation and fluency:
• Review of difficult sounds and improvement of intonation.
• Rhythm and confidence when speaking.
Functional grammar:
• Review and expansion of the present tense
• Introduction to the past (pretérito perfecto and indefinido – basic use)
• Common verb constructions (ir a + infinitive, tener que, querer)
• Comparatives and superlatives
• Basic connectors (and, but, because, then)
Vocabulary and conversation topics:
• Daily life and personal experiences
• Studies, work, and future plans
• Travel, leisure, and free time
• Shopping, services, and common problems
• Opinions and preferences
Cultural competences:
• Real communicative situations in Spanish-speaking countries
• Basic cultural differences in communication
• Daily life, customs, and social habits
Methodology
The course follows a communicative approach with special emphasis on speaking. The 90-minute
classes allow for more in-depth conversation activities, role plays, guided discussions, and pair or
small-group work. Grammar is presented in a practical way and always in support of
communication. Spanish is used as much as possible from the beginning, adapted to the level of the
group.
Expected results
By the end of the course, students will be able to participate in simple conversations with greater
confidence and autonomy and will be ready to continue with an A2 or A2+ level course.
About Marta
Marta is a highly experienced Spanish teacher with over 19 years of international teaching experience. She holds a BA (Hons) in Language Studies, specialising in Spanish and English, and has taught in a range of countries including the United Kingdom, China, Singapore, and the Czech Republic.
She supports students in developing their Spanish language skills through a balanced approach that focuses on vocabulary acquisition, grammatical accuracy, reading and listening comprehension, and, ultimately, confident communication in spoken Spanish. Her goal is to help students understand language in context and use it effectively in real-life situations.
Marta’s lessons are engaging, interactive, and tailored to meet the needs of individual learners. She incorporates a variety of activities and resources, including audio recordings, videos, books, songs, and authentic materials, to develop the four key language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Throughout her career, Marta has taught students of diverse nationalities, ages, and proficiency levels in a variety of international school settings. She is passionate about creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment where students not only make strong linguistic progress but also gain an appreciation of Spanish culture and traditions.
